Sarah Stokes

Sarah Bagby Hammond Stokes was born April 10, 1939. She departed this life on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant Bagby Sr. and Luevinia Holloway Bagby; brothers, Richard Grant Jr., Ezeal, Charles and Freddie Bagby; sisters, Josephine Bagby, Dorothy Fitchett, Mary Wormley and Temple Robinson and her husbands, James Hammond and Earl Stokes.

She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, William Bagby; sister, Mattie Pittman; stepson, Earl Tony Stokes; godson, Daniel Banks III; goddaughter, Sondra Haytko; foster daughter, Drema Henderson Hale and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2026 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Church View.

Interment in the church cemetery. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service.
