Rosalie Corbin

Rosalie Octavia Brown Corbin peacefully entered eternal rest on December 30, 2025, at the age of 82, lovingly surrounded by her son Harold, daughter-in-law Bobbie and niece Lisa at her bedside.

Born on July 25, 1943, Rosalie was a graduate of T.C. Walker Training School. After she graduated, she devoted many years working at Eastern State Hospital, later becoming a crab picker, before lastly working as a companion caregiver. Known to friends as 'Rose" and lovingly called 'Roro" by family, she was very social and seemed to know everyone in Gloucester. She especially enjoyed long phone conversations with her many friends and loved ones. Rosalie loved seafood. She would often get up very early in search of fresh fish. She often was the family hookup, especially for oysters, ensuring everyone had an opportunity to indulge.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Ethel Whiting; aunt, Dorothy Whiting; parents, Edward Brown and Anna Whiting Brown; nieces, Darlene Wilson and her sister, Jacquelyn Hodges.

Rosalie is survived by her son, Harold E. Corbin and daughter-in-law, Bobbie; brother-in-law, Saunders Hodges; aunt, Anna Bell Faison; niece, Lisa Washington; great nephews, Paul "PJ" Washington and D'Angelo Wilson; great nieces, Licia Washington and Charlize Wilson; great great nephews, Holden Washington and King Simmons.

She will also be fondly remembered by Dana, who affectionately called her "Grandma", her goddaughter Trina and manly friends who were dear to her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2026 at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home. Interment in Rising Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Gloucester. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rising Valley Baptist Church.
