Loraine Carey

Loraine B. Carey was born October 5, 1939, in Smithfield, Virginia, to the late Marcus B. and Lelia J. Blount. She peacefully departed this life on October 13, 2023 at home in Waldorf, Maryland. She taught science in the Williamsburg-James City County and Newport News Schools Systems. 

Loraine was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, William P. Carey.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Kimberly C. Williams, Esq. and Army Colonel Brian S. Carey (Sara); granddaughters, Maya Loraine Williams and Briar Naeve Carey; siblings, Harriet Yvonne Carter and Marcus Bethney Blount II (Brenda); nephews, Marcus Wade Blount (Tanya) and Lawrence Quincy Marshall (Amy) and grandnephew, Jared Leo Blount.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the First United Baptist Church Cemetery, Gloucester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of the National Science Foundation.
