Obituary

Deacon George Samuel "Pudgie" Larrimore Sr., of Gloucester, passed away on January 1, 2021 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester. George was born on August 5, 1939 to the late Snowden and Ida Bell Larrimore in Gloucester County.

George graduated from T.C. Walker High School and served in the U.S. Army after graduation from high school. George retired from the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office and was the owner of Village Star Texaco and X-tra Clean Carwash and On The Stop Carwash.

George was someone who never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. George was a member of Zion Poplar  Baptist Church and Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a member of the Gloucester-Mathews Men's Chorus  and the Gloucester Deacon Union. He was twice President of the Gloucester Lions Club. He was a member of American Legion Post 75, Gloucester. He was the Grand Marshal of the 2018 Christmas Parade.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Snowden and Ida Bell Larrimore; his first wife, Henrietta H. Larrimore; his brothers, John and Snowden Larrimore.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Janice Bowman-Larrimore; his daughters, Gwendolyn Larrimore-Wilson (Jerry) and Tiffani Larrimore-Moss (Adam); his sons, Vernon, William and George Sammy Larrimore Jr. (Kathy Marshall). He is survived by his sisters Margaret Taliaferro, Helen Pressey (Keith) and Emily Smith (Anthony); his brothers, Robert and Donald Larrimore (Mabel); 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; his aunt, Elizabeth Taylor; sisters-in-law, Adlean and Joyce Larrimore, Helen Good, Viola Dobbs, Jackie Bowman and Judy Dillard (Ronald); brothers-in-law, Golden Harris (Linda), Ronnie Bowman, Ralph Bowman and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who will truly miss him.

His viewing will be held 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2021 at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home, Shacklefords. 

A celebration of his life will be held at noon on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at LightHouse 4299 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes.

Interment will be at Zion Poplar Baptist Church Cemetery 7000 T.C. Walker Road, Gloucester.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service will be reserved for family. Masks required.
