Garland A. Payne

Garland Alfonzo Payne was born January 4, 1969 to the late James and Ann Payne. He departed this life on July 3, 2022.

Garland was a road runner and loved traveling with his daughter. He enjoyed visiting with his loving Aunt Rose. He would check on the elderly and was always willing to give a helping hand. He enjoyed attending all churches.

Garland was good worker and worked many years for Ottarson Construction. He also enjoyed his side job as a handyman and a recycler. He was educated in Gloucester County Public Schools and graduated from Gloucester High School.

Garland liked to laugh, have fun, cut up and act a fool. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ann Payne; brother, Tyrone Payne; sisters, Brenda Wright, Joyce Payne, Rachel Payne and a nephew, Daniel Paige.

Garland leaves to cherish his memory a precious daughter, Kaiden Payne; sisters, Diane Paige, Marcia Sutherlin, Sharon Payne and Dale Payne; brothers, Wayne Payne, Kevin Payne and Gene Payne; brother-in-law, William Wright; aunts, Charletta Jordan, Rose Gainey, Ellen Harris and Sylvia Payne; uncle, Frank Carey; special friend, Chandler Hines and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 at First United Baptist Church 6188 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester. The viewing will be an hour prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery.
