Donald Smith Sr.

On March 28, 2024 at approximately 1:15 p.m., Donald Christopher McGee Smith Sr. passed away at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was 98 years old.

'Don" was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia to the late James and Grace Smith. He grew up in Mathews. Virginia. Once married, he moved his family to Springfield, Massachusetts.

He leaves behind two sons, Donald Christopher McGee Smith Jr. (Gwendolyn)  and Michael James Smith (Sybil); two daughters, Cheryl Elizabeth Smith and Adrianne Jessica Smith; grandsons, Christian Donniel Smith (Ja'Net), Sheldon Giavon Smith, Mark Smith and Jeffrey Smith;  five great grandchildren, Giadon, Trevian, Nevaeh, Caiden and Asia; nieces, Janice Gardner and Barbara Taylor (George)' great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many other family members and friends.

A memorial event will be held 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2024 at The Eagles Banquet Hall 530 St. James Avenue Springfield, Massachusetts. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024 at New Hope Fellowship Church 11906 General Puller Highway, Hartfield, Virginia. Interment will be at a later date in the family cemetery in Mathews, Virginia.
