Da'Jour Smith

Da'Jour Jamal-Wilson Smith, aged 33, passed away on September 24, 2024. To many he was known as Day Day. He was a beloved father, husband, son, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Day Day was born on August 19, 1991 in Williamsburg, Virginia where he spent his formative years. He went on to move to North Carolina at age six and eventually attended East Bladen High School , leaving his mark as a fine sportsman. He played sports in college as well but ultimately chose a different path. Throughout his life, no matter which state he was in, he was known for his hard work, dedication and passion for helping others.

He reconnected  with his elementary sweetheart and moved back to Virginia. They were married on June 3, 2017. The couple welcomed two children together; making them a family of five. More than anything, Day Day was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his children, sharing stories, playing games and watching their favorite TV shows. He was always there to offer guidance, support and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced. His children remember father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

In his free time, Day Day enjoyed gardening, sports and was an adamant golfer. He was always eager to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He was an active member of his community, volunteering for various causes and organizations. Day Day coached both children's football and basketball and will be remembered by the families he served.

Day Day is survived by his loving wife, Kristin Smith; his children, Zha'Neiyah, Jasper, Kayden, Ka'Riah and Ka'Laina Smith; his parents, Chiquita "Chee Chee" Smith and Ernest "Kookie"  Lipscomb III and his siblings, Jodeci Smith and Chiquita "Ke Ke" Cooke. He also leaves behind a great aunt, Rosemary Davis, several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as others who loved him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Sunday, September 29, 2024, the viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with the service to begin at 3:00 p.m., at Union Shiloh Baptist Church, Laneview.  Reverend Russell Smith officiating. Interment in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Church View. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Day Day's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his wife as he was the sole provider of their family.
