Arma Willis

Arma Louise Willis, 78, of Mathews, passed away on June 13, 2026. Born on May 5, 1948, in Gloucester, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Lillie Mae Green.

On December 20, 1969, she married Raymond Willis Sr., beginning a loving partnership that lasted more than 56 years. Together they raised two children, Raymond Willis Jr. and Yvette Gaither and built a family rooted in faith, love and service.

Mrs. Willis devoted more than twenty years to caring for others as a nursing assistant at Eastern State Hospital. Known for her caring nature and steady presence, she touched many lives through both her work and everyday acts of kindness.

A woman of deep Christian faith, she enjoyed attending church and serving her community. She was a founding member of the Mathews Continental Society and treasured the lifelong friendships she maintained with her T.C. Walker classmates. She also enjoyed trips to the beach, bus excursions, bingo, bowling and watching sports, especially basketball. Whether at church, a community gathering or a family event, she was known for her warm spirit and ability to make others feel welcome.

Above all, Mrs. Willis cherished her family. She took great pride in her grandchildren, Jalynn Christina Willis and Adeyemi Rashaan Stembridge and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Willis Sr.; her children, Raymond Willis Jr. and Yvette Gaither; her grandchildren, Jalynn Christina Willis and Adeyemi Rashaan Stembridge; her siblings, Purcell Green (Grace), John Green, Robert Green, Margaret Savage and Linwood Green and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, church members and classmates. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Vernon Green Jr. and her sisters, Patricia Mae Gordon and Anna Marie Cooke.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Emmaus Baptist Church, North. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. 

Her faith, kindness and unwavering devotion to family and community left a lasting legacy that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
