Ann Marie Jarvis

Ann Marie Jarvis, beloved mother, "Nannie Annie", sister and friend, took her eternal rest on July 24, 2025 at the age of 72. Ann was born on November 27, 1952, in New York, to Roland A. Foster and Dora L. Foster. She was a vibrant and intelligent woman whose presence was felt by all who knew her.

A proud graduate of Mathews High School in 1970. Ann's high school years were filled with both academic and extracurricular achievements. She was a member of the drill team, drama club, student council and participated in beauty pageants, displaying not only her talent but her love for being involved in her community. Her inquisitive mind and love for learning led her to pursue a career in public service. She brought her sharp intellect and strong work ethic to the FBI in Washington D.C. before moving to Virginia.

Ann's career was dedicated to helping others. She spent 30 years working at Horn Harbor, and then over 10 years at Walter Reed Convalescent Center, where she became known for her kind heart and unwavering commitment to the well-being of those in her care as a registered dietary aide.

Outside of work, Ann was a woman of many passions. She was an avid puzzle solver, often completing crossword puzzles in record time and shouting out answers to game shows as if she had the answers to everything. Her ability to pull the most unexpected and obscure facts out of the air was legendary. And, she was right nearly every time. Her family will forever remember her trademark 'Yikky Who!" -her special call to greet her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was a sound that meant love, joy and the bond of family.

Ann was a proud mother to Ryan Jarvis (Agathe), Candace Jarvis (Edwin) and Charisa Dayton (Shawn). her joy and pride only grew when she became "Nannie Annie" to 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She adored spending time with them, whether at the park, the movie theater or family fun centers. Her love for family and her outgoing, lively personality shone through in every moment she shared with those she loved.

One of Ann's favorite pastimes was bingo, and she spent many happy years enjoying the game with friends and family. As her family can attest, when Ann won, she made sure to share the spoils-treating them to meals or fun outings, always giving back to the people who meant the most to her.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Dora Foster, and her daughter, Charisa Dayton. While she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, Ann's legacy of love, intelligence and joy will live on in her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and all who were fortunate to be a part of her life.

Rest in peace, Ann Marie. You were loved beyond measure and you will be missed forever. Those she leaves to cherish her memory are her son, Ryan Jarvis (Agathe); daughter, Candace Jarvis; her brothers, Roland L. Foster and Nelson A. Foster (Barbara); sister, Doris Foster-Curseen and her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The memorial service, where her sister Mary will also be remembered, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the funeral home.
